Previously there has been little research about resilience in classical musicians, but a field that is growing fast, especially since the start of the COVID pandemic. The method I follow for improving resilience comes from focusing on three main areas: Mental Skills, Challenge and Ownership. By focusing on these areas you can build resilience without compromising psychological safety.

  • To be a musician, talent is not the only quality required: self-awareness, self-knowledge, mental strength, ability to overcome disappointment and the ability to allow others to truly see you are equally as important. Authentic Artistry is a course created to promote a stronger sense of self and identity in musicians and how to apply this in approaches to performance. Through this, participants can gain a better sense of confidence and authenticity on stage and create a professional life that is more sustainable and less rigid. The goal is to promote authenticity, finding high performance without sacrificing mental health in the process.
